10/31/2020: deadline to adapt television to 5G tecnology.
COVID-19 has delayed the implementation of technology however we are ready to help you.
Royal Decree 707/2020 regulates the "granting of subsidies to communication service providers" and sets the new date. Below is the hyperantenna article which gives all the details.
We look a little bit to the past: in 2014, the owners' communities had to re-tune their digital terrestrial television devices to accommodate the 4G technology, and then a radioelectric space was reserved for the future 5G. In 2018 the definitive timetable for the achievement of this advance of European scope was approved.
The cost of adapting DTT can go to 100€ to 600€ per neighborhood community. There are two reasons that explain the broad cost range between the minimum price and the maximum price.
Firstly the size diversity of the buildings where the new DTT will be installed (in practice, the whole real estate park will be adapted: we are talking about accessing TV!). The re-tunings that cost 100€ are those of small buildings, according to Miguel Ángel García Argüelles, managing director of FENITEL, the installers' association, consists of compact equipment, programmable control units'. On the other hand, costs between 150 and 600€ correspond to large or medium-sized buildings where 'there may be multichannel headers' says Argüelles.
Secondly for the divergence of cost is explained according to the same expert, 'the amount of channels that have to change in each geographical area', Broadly speaking we will move in the "same range of costs as in the 1st dividend" tops Argüelles.
Will there be help to cope with these costs incurred? Yes, as happened with 4G technology. In this regard, the government is preparing a package of aid worth 172 million euros, of which 150 will go to neighborhood communities.
