Can I hang a lamp properly without risks?

Ceiling lamps combine utility and distinction. Our do-it-yourself section returns to show you how to hang one. 

Our interior designer expert Pep Feliu underlined the importance of lighting to make living at home an even more pleasant experience. It is clear that in rooms without natural light this must be artificial one: lamps are a solution. While in those with it it can be a nice complement.

From the headline we have put the accent on safety. This implies that we have risks in mind: one is electrocution and the other is not fixing the lamp properly to the ceiling. We will give the response to both dangers and, moreover, at the end of the article you will know how to hang the beautiful lamp you have bought.

Let's go! inactivate the differential of the electrical panel corresponding to the room where you are going to hang the lamp. If you do not know which differential corresponds to that room, turn off the main switch. By doing this you cannot get electrocuted. 

Now let's get the perfect fixation. The operations we describe generate dust, so it is convenient that before starting we have a plastic cup ready to collect it. 

To fix the lamp there are different ways:

1. Use the plug and socket: after making the hole with the drill, and screwing the socket, the plug is twisted and makes a stop.

2. Use tipping blocks: with a socket that opens with its two wings that unfold. When we use the widia bit, we insert the cue and the socket opens when we enter the hole and unfolds its fins, which support the weight.

3. Use spring-loaded steel dowels with flippers: it opens after the piece is inserted through the hole made with the drill bit. The hole in the roof should be the same size as the dowel you have chosen. If we use spring steel plugs, it should be bigger. Once the hole has been made, the plug is embedded in it with a nylon mallet so that it is well inserted and flush with the ceiling. Then we screw the socket to the cue.

Now it's time to connect the wires. The best way to do this is to use a cleat. The phase wire carries the general current to the device, while the neutral wire returns it. Now we remove the plastic covering and attach them to the clamp, which is screwed on.

Finally, reconnect the power and press the switch.
